Websites built for local business

They searched for you. They called someone else.

When someone hears about your business, one of the first things they may do is look you up. We build the website they expect to find — your services, photos, hours, reviews and an easy way to call or request a quote. We’ll show you the homepage before you pay us anything.

How referrals work now

Word of mouth sends them your way. What happens when they look you up?

A customer recommends you to a friend. That friend searches your business before calling. Can they quickly see what you do, where you work, when you’re open and how to reach you? If not, the referral suddenly has more work to do.

A simple website gives that customer somewhere to confirm they found the right business and take the next step.

  • Harder to find and verifyCustomers searching your name or services need clear information about what you do, where you work and how to contact you. A website gives Google and customers another reliable source.
  • Missing information creates doubtNo hours, outdated photos, unclear services or no easy way to contact you can make a perfectly good business look harder to work with than the competitor next door.
  • AI is becoming another way customers searchPeople are increasingly asking ChatGPT and other AI tools for local recommendations. Clear information on your own website gives those systems another source for understanding who you are, what you do and where you work.

Run your own numbers

What could one missed customer a week be worth?

Use your own numbers to see what a few missed opportunities could add up to over a year.

A haircut, a repair call, a lawn package, a catering order.

Think referrals who search your name, people looking for your hours, or customers comparing several local businesses.

What that adds up to
$14,400

At those numbers, four additional $300 jobs a month would equal $14,400 in annual revenue.

That doesn’t mean a website will automatically generate those jobs. It shows how quickly even a small number of missed opportunities can add up.

At a $300 average job, six additional jobs would equal the $1,797 cost of our Get Calls package.

This is an estimate using your numbers, not a promise of results.

The plan

Three steps. We handle the tech.

You know your business. We handle the website. Here’s what we need from you.

  1. Day 1 · about 15 minutes

    Tell us about your business

Spend about 15 minutes telling us what you do, where you work and the customers you want to reach. Send your logo and a few photos if you have them. Phone photos are fine.

  2. Free · about 48 hours

    We build the first version

We write the copy, design the homepage and send you a mockup to review. Tell us what you like and what you want changed.

  3. Most sites · about 7 days

You approve it. We launch it.

Happy with the direction? You pay the package price, and we finish the build, connect your domain and launch it. We’ll also show you how everything works.

Every website includes

Everything you need. Nothing you don’t.

Built for phones first

Most local searches happen on a phone, so calling, requesting a quote, checking hours and finding your location should be easy without pinching and zooming.

One-tap calling

Your phone number stays easy to find, so mobile visitors can call with one tap.

Google-ready

We structure your pages, services, and business information clearly and connect the site with your Google Business Profile where appropriate. We also make your business information easier for AI search tools like ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity to understand.

AI search ready

Modern search increasingly includes tools like ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity. We organize your business information clearly so these systems can more easily understand your services, location, and contact details.

  • ChatGPT: customers can ask for local business recommendations or service providers in plain English.
  • Google AI Overviews / AI Mode: Google increasingly summarizes answers and local options directly in search.
  • Microsoft Copilot: uses web information to answer questions and surface businesses or services.
  • Perplexity: an AI search engine that answers questions using cited web sources.
  • Gemini: Google’s AI assistant, which can surface information from the web and Google ecosystem.

We do not guarantee placement or recommendations in any AI tool.

Built to load quickly

We keep unnecessary scripts and oversized files out so customers aren’t waiting around for the page to load.

You don’t have to write the website

We turn a short conversation about your business into the first draft of your website copy. You review it, correct anything we missed and approve it before launch.

Your domain and website belong to you

We don’t hold your website hostage to keep you paying us. Once it’s built and paid for, it’s yours, and 10 years of domain registration is included in the build price. No monthly fees to us.

Secure connection included

SSL is included, so information between the visitor and your website is encrypted.

Talk to the person building it

Call or text when you have a question. You won’t have to open a support ticket just to ask about your homepage.

See the homepage before you decide.

We’ll design the first homepage concept for your business before asking you to pay for the full build.

  • No credit card.
  • No long-term contract.
  • No obligation to continue if the concept isn’t right for you.

Concept work

Websites for businesses like yours.

We’re a new studio, so we’re not going to pretend concept work came from paying clients. These are fictional businesses we created to show how we’d approach different types of local companies. We’ll replace them with real launches as we build our portfolio.

Our promise

See it before you pay for the build.

We start with your homepage concept. If you don’t want to continue after seeing it, walk away and owe us nothing. If you approve the direction, you pay the package price and we finish the site according to the package you selected.

The free concept is a design of your homepage, so you can judge our work before you buy. It isn’t the finished website.

  • Free homepage concept. No card, no contract.
  • Don’t like it? Walk away and owe nothing.
  • Pay the package price only when you decide to move forward
  • No monthly fees. No long-term contracts.

Founding clients

We’re building our first portfolio now.

SMRTWEBWORKS is new, which means we don’t have a wall of customer reviews to show you yet. We’re not going to make them up.

Instead, founding clients get direct access to the person actually designing their site. If you’re happy with the finished work, we’ll ask for an honest review and permission to feature the site in our portfolio.

Founder-built

Your first site is designed directly with the founder rather than handed through an agency account-management chain.

Portfolio-level attention

These first projects will become the work we show future customers, so we have every reason to make them good.

Honest feedback

If something isn’t right, tell us. We’d rather fix it than ask you for a review you don’t mean.

Questions

Straight answers.

How much does a website cost?

Our website builds start at $997. Most local businesses choose the $1,797 Get Calls package. Before you commit, we’ll tell you exactly what’s included and what it costs. Your first homepage concept is free.

Once your site is paid for, there are no monthly fees from us. Your domain name is registered in your name, and 10 years of registration is included in your build price, so there’s no renewal to worry about for a decade. If you use a third-party booking or ordering service, that company may charge its own fees. See pricing.

When do I pay?

Only after you’ve seen your free homepage concept and decided to move forward. At that point you pay the package price, and we build and launch the full site. If you decide not to continue, you owe nothing.

How long does it take?

Most standard sites are ready to launch in about seven days once we have the information and photos we need. Larger sites can take two to three weeks. We’ll give you an expected launch date before the build begins.

I’m not tech-savvy. Is that a problem?

No. If you can answer a few questions about your business, send us some photos and reply when we send you a draft, that’s enough. We handle the copy, design and technical setup.

Do I need to update it myself?

You don’t need to make weekly updates. Most local business websites only change when your hours, services or photos do. When that happens, we’ll show you how to make simple edits yourself, or you can reach out and we’ll let you know what it would take for us to handle it.

Who owns the website?

You do. Your domain is registered in your name with 10 years included in your build price, and the website is yours once it’s paid for. There are no monthly hosting fees from us, and we’ll explain exactly how your files and account access work before you buy. No hostage situations.

Will a website put me at the top of Google?

No honest web company should promise that. A good website gives Google clear information about your business, services and location and gives customers somewhere useful to land when they find you. Rankings depend on several factors, including competition, your Google Business Profile, reviews, location, links and the quality of your overall online presence.

What happens if I don’t like the free mockup?

Tell us what isn’t working. If the overall direction still isn’t right and you don’t want to continue, you can walk away without paying anything.

Why not use a free website builder?

You absolutely can build a site yourself with Wix, Squarespace or another website builder. For some owners, that’s the right option. Our service is for owners who would rather spend their time running the business and have someone else handle the structure, writing, design and setup.

If saving the money matters more than saving the time, a DIY builder may make sense. If you want someone to handle the project for you, that’s where we come in.

I have a Facebook page. Isn’t that enough?

Facebook can be useful, and we aren’t asking you to stop using it. The difference is that Facebook controls the platform and decides how your information is displayed. Your website gives you one place you control for your services, hours, photos, reviews, contact information and links to every other profile.

What do you need from me?

About 15 minutes to tell us about your business, your logo if you have one, and a few photos of your work. Phone photos are fine. We write everything else.

Your move

Get found. Get called.

You don’t have to decide whether we’re the right website company based on a sales pitch. Let us show you what we’d build for your business first.
